Was it really just last Wednesday that we had frigid temperatures and yesterday it was 55 degrees?! Haha! Welcome to Illinois! This week you have no WEATHER reason NOT to stop in and see all the "latest" at our Carol Stream store AND then head over to Lombard and check out all the goodies there too! The following photos are a few things that caught my eye at our Carol Stream store:

lovely Simply shabby Chic three drawer chest for $85. Some marks on the
top but, overall, in very good condition!
two matching Plunkett side chairs! One has a significant spot on one side of the seat cushion (second photo - but the other side is fine!) and is priced $65. The other one is spot free and priced $85

there's an interesting story about these two pieces as well as several others that were recently donated. Though you know me as the person who writes the blog - my main role is donation coordinator and I do all the screening of incoming donation inquiries and well as the scheduling. A lovely older donor phoned me a couple of weeks ago and said he had furniture in a retirement community that was purchased ten years ago AND NEVER USED. Okay? I was really baffled about how there could be an apartment full of furniture that was purchased ten years ago and never used. Turns out he started renting the unit when he had some health issues and wanted to make sure his wife would have a safe place to go if he died. Ten years later - he's in great health and the rent keeps going up so they
decided to let the unit go and donate all the never-been-used furniture! Might be the
sweetest story I've ever heard! Also, who has that kind of money?! Haha!
We have a white leather sofa - both ends recliner - truly in mint condition and priced $695;
matching oversized recliner (also "like new") for $395
also from the apartment that was never used is this very attractive electric fireplace! Throws off good heat and has a lovely flame! You push open the piece above the fireplace and you can put a
DVD player or cable box or something and your TV can sit on top!
From Twin Star and has the remote and instructions! Priced $245
and measures: 16" by 50" and stands 42" tall
this is an EXCELLENT condition sofa with an ottoman and chaise cushion. What that means is you could put the ottoman on the other end and simply flip over the chaise cushion! BUT there's a small rip/repair on the other side of the chaise cushion that I, personally, don't think is a big deal but our pricing team felt like they should factor that in when pricing (which makes sense). So priced $375 (without the rip/repair it would have been another hundred dollars easily!).
This one is going to go fast! LOVE the colors in the fabric too!
Ashley Furniture sofa for $245 and matching chair and ottoman for $145. All three pieces show some wear on the upholstered but overall in great condition!
sweet 30" round glass top table with two chairs made by Amisco Industries in Canada. Part of the donation from the "never used apartment" and priced $275. The table base is metal as is the chair frame BUT the back of the two chairs are wood!
INCREDIBLE brass and glass nesting table in excellent condition and priced $545
super nice - and very comfortable - swivel GLIDER! Really in excellent condition so I'm not sure why it's only $95 - so check it out and see if I missed some obvious flaw! I don't THINK I did - and if I'm right and there are no issues someone needs to snap this up immediately 'cause
it's worth a lot more than $95!
