In case you're beginning to feel a bit panicky that Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK and Christmas follows quicky on its heels - please know I'm right with you. BUT - recognizing you can only do so much in any given day and many things don't have to get done right this minute - might I suggest we all take a deep breath, sit back in our chairs (instead of perching on the edge), get comfortable and for the next - however long it takes to go through this post - relax, gaze on all the fun furniture I'm about to share, and put our thinking caps on and start considering how to make our homes more inviting for whatever holiday festivities we might be hosting and we - please, please, please - throw out the idea of a perfect and curated home and instead strive for one that's warm, comfortable and welcomes friends and family to settle in and put their feet up? This sounds like a question and I did indeed end it with a question mark - but please revise it to read as a statement!
Since in my first furniture description I mention I might be a wee bit OCD - my mantra for the next five weeks and one day (yes, Christmas is in five weeks and one day if you're reading this on 11/19 ) is: THINGS DO NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT! Perfect is off-putting and unattainable. I say let's embrace the chaos - as long as it's neat and orderly! Haha!
Let's take a look at SOME of our current inventory at our Carol Stream store!
in case you've ever wondered if I'm a little OCD - this will probably confirm it for you. This is an incredible - twin bed OVER a full bed - from Crate & Barrel and it's in excellent condition! Here's where the OCD comes in. The bed was set up incorrectly. The twin bed part should be turned around so both beds are flush with the wall and the ladder juts out over the wider full size bed. Does that make sense? Of course - you could set it up in your home exactly as shown but there would be some "dead" space between the twin bed and the wall which seems a waste. So, every time I walk by this set up I feel a bit twitchy. OCD? Someone who likes things done correctly? You decide! Haha!
Selling the bunk bed system for $695. USED full size mattress for $30
two matching sweet rolling chair in great condition and priced $85 each
apologies for the upside down photo with the manufacture's info - I flipped it eight times and it looks correct on my screen and then when inserted in this post it's the wrong way again! Ugh. This is a crazy cool Skovby expanding table.
Retails for $3,000! Under the table top there's a "wheel" you turn which opens the top and when it's completely open, a small push pops up the three wings that insert into the table to expand it! Without the leaves it's 47" round and with 'em it's a 57" rounded triangle! There is a crack on the edge of the top (last photo - see blue tape) and you can see where something sat right smack in the middle and the wood is darker. We're selling ours for $495
wonderful, pine Thomasville bedroom set that includes: long dresser (no mirror) for $125; clothing armoire for $135 and two matching nightstands priced $55 each. All in great condition!
this is an incredible table with two benches - very rustic (I think the table was cut in half - if you look at the support legs - they're different on each side - on one side the support piece is set in a bit and on the other end it's flush with the table top - BUT - it's very comfortable and with a bit of elbow grease (and some power tools?) this would be such a cozy eating/game playing/puzzle spot! Priced $125.
Table measures: 37 1/2" by 47 1/2"
instead of crowding your table with extra chairs for the holidays - add a bench and squeeze in a whole bunch of folks! We have this 5' long (with a 15" wide seat) bench that's supported by LOVE
(haha - see the heart?). In excellent condition and priced $75

22 1/2" by 71" wide (and stands 30" from floor to top) shelving unit - beautiful wood - shelves are NOT adjustable (speaking of OCD - note that everything does NOT line up - the middle section
shelves are slightly higher than either side). Priced $225

white painted, solid wood, picnic table with leaves that can be added to each end and two benches! Table measures: 33" by 62" and the two leaves are each 12" wide. Needs to be repainted - priced $225
my love for Room & Board is vast! We received this Ericson wood frame with a damaged back leg (second to last photo) that Dick repaired and then I checked in with the retail store asking if they had any cushions and - low and behold, they gave us this set of BRAND NEW ones!
I'll see you next week, dear reader, and will share our holiday store hours and a look at more new-to-us furniture! Until then, take care!
