HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'm writing this post on Tuesday, December 31st and thought I'd provide an update of some of the craziness you might have noticed at the Carol Stream store lately!
Let's start with the large cement block structure that's being built on the side of the two story part of our building!
and then this is what it looks like from inside bedroom land. This is where an elevator will be installed!
Above bedroom land are the future offices for our employment opportunity program staff and space for them to meet with our students and a small kitchen area too. In order to be ADA compliant there must be elevator access to the second floor. We're not totally there yet but you can put a partial check by this one!
If you've wandered to the furthest reaches of bedroom land you might have noticed a wall was built about two months ago - and that wall has slowly been closed in with doors/windows. Until the upstairs space is completely finished (and a working elevator is installed) the employment training staff will relocated to this space. This will probably happen in the next week or so.
Though we're not thrilled to have lost some showroom space - eventually it will revert back and then it's actually quite nice to have more walls to support larger pieces! Haha! Let's think positively!
Moving into dining room land - a large rack as been removed and we have a "new" area rug display arm system installed that will corral smaller area rugs. The larger rug display is still there but on the opposite wall we have it's little sister! Be sure and check out our rug selection if you're in the market for one! We get some incredibly nice (wool, expensive) rugs that are a fraction of the retail price. And because we have the best donors in all the land - it's not unusual for a donor to have their rug(s) PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED before they donate it/them! Yep. Incredible!
And the last change is to the back wall in our main showroom space. A line of racks has been removed and we've moved a lot of our desks with hutches and large bookcase pieces to this wall. It totally opens up the space and we all agree it feels wonderful!
You still with me? Then I reward you with ONE MORE week of 75% off all Christmas décor before it's carefully boxed up and stored until Christmas 2025 (oh golly - let's NOT go there just yet - please!).
The store will be CLOSED on Wednesday, 01/01/2025 but open
Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 8 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm!
Let's take a look at a few things that caught my eye!
this is a really beautiful Hollywood glam queen size bed! I love the "antiquing" of the mirror part of this bed! In excellent condition and priced $195. USED queen size box spring for $60
PRISTINE condition THREE piece slip covered Pottery Barn sectional that's priced $1,595. The slip covers can be removed and laundered and the slip covers gives it a slightly less formal look! It's very similar to this one from Pottery Barn that's ON SALE for between $5,077 and $8,147 depending on what fabric you choose! Makes our price look like a steal - doesn't it?!
EVERYONE needs a sunny yellow sofa and/or chair and ottoman in these gray days of winter! Sofa is priced $195 and the chair and ottoman is $135. Ottoman appears a bit faded and
the sofa and chair are slightly worn but overall nice pieces!
Room & Board sleeper loveseat in pristine condition! I believe it's from the Ludlow Collection
and retails for $1,999. Ours is priced $495 and it does sit "firm"
we have two matching brown velvet oversized chairs - this time from Crate & Barrel -
that are in good condition! Priced $115 each
this is a STUNNING gray leather THREE piece sectional in excellent condition and priced $795
burgundy velvet sofa for $255 (did I show this to you several weeks ago? If I did -
sorry for repeating myself! It just catches my eye when I walk by!)
nice blue modern sofa! I did see some pet hairs on it - so FYI. Priced $195
two matching leather woven stools - counter height (not bar height). Excellent condition EXCEPT one of the stools is missing the little "feet" on two of the legs and the stool is uneven
(just something to be aware of since all sales are final at Jubilee Furniture)
two gorgeous Walter E. Smithe matching side chairs - both are in
excellent condition! Priced $225 each
I think this FIVE piece leather sectional is gorgeous! Just the right amount of scratches, fading, wear to make it not "precious." Both ends recline and you could add the armless chair to either side. The last three photos are trying to show you the scratches in the leather. Priced $325
I so hope this retro Stanley three piece wall unit/bookcases stays together - and we have a "buy it all" price as incentive! Haha! The two end pieces are identical EXCEPT one has more wear/dings than the other - so one is priced $165 and the other $175. The middle "double" cabinet has s light in one of the cubbies behind a set of doors and it's priced $265. The "buy all three" price is $550 and
that's a savings of $55! Woot! There does seem to be some water damage along the bottom
of the $165 bookcase and the double bookcase but none on the $175 bookcase
(that's the three photos in a row - see what I mean?). FYI
extra deep, brown, wide wale corduroy sofa with nail head trim
in very good condition and priced $325
though this two piece dresser with mirrored hutch needs a little TLC - it's mostly surface stuff
(though it is also missing one of the knobs on the two doors in the dresser). Priced $55
Wishing you every good thing in 2025, dear reader! Whatever you're doing tonight - stay safe! I'll see you next year! Haha!
