The city of Wheaton cut a HUGE limb from our parkway tree this past summer and I immediate envisioned adding a board and having a witch standing in the branches for Halloween. Life size witches are expensive so I challenged myself to make one! Over several Saturdays - with some engineering glitches that required rethinking several components - eventually Matilda (Tilly for short) was created and I absolutely LOVE her!
I added lights to the tree (and mirrored spiders I found at Goodwill) as well as a sign where I introduced Tilly to my neighbors. Each week I've been changing out Tilly's message with a quote that resonates with me and I think this week I'll put this incredible quote from Mother Julian of Norwich up:
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well
as a reminder that - eventually - all WILL be well!
please don't make fun of how long her arms are - she's a wee bit sensitive
there she is silhouetted against the evening sky and guarding my street!
Moving on! What follows are a few things I thought were wonderful and wanted to show you! As always - there's a lot more inventory and I hope you can stop in and check it out in person!
sweet Land of Nod white dresser in good condition though there is
some staining on the top - priced $125
very cool antique chest of drawer in good condition (again some issues on the top) priced $65
NINE drawer dresser (could see this as a TV stand) in great condition and priced $245
I LOVE this rustic cabinet! Measures: 14 1/2" by 6' and stands 44" tall.
In great condition and priced $425
3' round oak pedestal cafe table (41 1/2" from floor to table top) with two SWIVEL stools -
all in very good condition and priced $145
cool 16" round wood table with a metal base (stands 18" tall) and priced $65
gorgeous retro sofa in excellent condition and priced $225 (I left the
price tag photo so you can see the pattern in the fabric)
this is an absolute showstopper that makes me smile every time I see it! Separates into a number of pieces to make transporting easier (I THINK it's the two side parts, then the center part separates into two pieces and then the base everything sits on is also separate). This is a vintage entertainment center that includes: WORKING recorder player (Garrard brand); WORKING radio (Marantz Model 2215B stereophonic receiver); WORKING 8 track tape player (BSR McDonald brand); two working chandeliers; drop down bar area with light that turns on when you open it AND working lights at the top to illuminate several display shelves! The fireplace is the only thing I'm not sure got tested (and it's a plug in where red paper rotates to provide a "glow"). Phew! One of a kind -
overall in excellent condition and priced $1,800
Room & Board donated FOUR Emmet sofas made of high density polyethylene (partially from recycled plastic) and two round side table. Some fading of the color but overall in great condition!
Here's a link to their website (these are the STANDARD 70" sofa) and retail for $1,899 EACH.
We've selling 'em for $475 EACH and the side tables for $85 each
You might find it a bit annoying to have Christmas stuff on display in stores already but - this year in particular (Thanksgiving is super late this year - 11/27 - less than a month before Christmas!) - you really do need to be very proactive - so we've joined the fray! Lots of fun holiday décor to catch your eye!
(good golly- these photos are worse than usual - I'm so sorry!
Just trying to give you a sense of what's available)
Like Julian of Norwich - I, too, believe all will be well, dear reader! Hang in there and know I - and Tilly - think you're amazing! 💟
