What's with the pink price tags?

For anyone who might be wondering about some bright pink price tags that have appeared in the store in the last few weeks - here's the skinny (as I'm prone to do - after writing "here's the skinny" it got me wondering where that expression came from. Here's a resource that explores that very question if you're interested).

As you might know - there are several social enterprises of Outreach Community Ministries (OCM). Jubilee Furniture is one and our "sister" store, Discoveries in Warrenville is another (as is Jubilee Cars - a place to donated cars in any condition. If you click on that link I promise you'll see a photo of the cutest mother and daughter that will absolutely make you smile! Those cheeks!). Discoveries would be considered a more "traditional" resale store that sells clothing and books (among many other things). A couple of years ago - Discoveries was able to lease (at a huge discount) another store a few doors down from the main store and it became their "furniture annex." Fast forward a few years and suddenly the rent increases to the point it's not viable for us to rent any longer and we let that space go (just the annex NOT the main store).

What to do both with the furniture still in the furniture annex and the fact there's a lot of amazing donations in the Warrenville area? Why bring it to Jubilee Furniture!

Okay - here's where things get a bit confusing and you can skip over all of this and I won't be offended (though it does FINALLY answer my title query and you've come this far...) - you know proceeds of what we sell at Jubilee Furniture are being used wherever within Outreach they're needed. Right? Well, proceeds from what Discoveries sells are going directly to help the programs and services offered at Warrenville Youth and Family Ministries (WYFS one of OCM's service sites). I always thought that was lovely - Warrenville donors are donating to a resale store in Warrenville and the proceeds are supporting a social service agency in Warrenville (so you're quite literally helping your neighbor). In order to not break that beautiful Warrenville circle - everything picked up by Discoveries (they do their own donation pickups - if you're in Warrenville and have quality used furniture to donated call 630.393.5133 to discuss and schedule a pickup) - is now being sold out of Jubilee Furniture AND is tagged with a bright pink price tag so the funds of that particular sale can go directly to WYFS!

And that is the "skinny" on the bright pink price tags on some of the items at Jubilee Furniture! Phew!

this is simply an example of what the tags look like

Moving on. What follows (as always) are photos of SOME of our current inventory! I must tell you I spied several AMAZING sofas - still on dollies and not priced yet - ready to be placed in the showroom (and obviously priced). All that to say - I think very worth your time to stop by and take a look at everything in person!

I also spied some amazing sofas already on the floor and priced! Haha! Including this Lazboy brand corduroy one that's in excellent condition EXCEPT for a small stain on one arm
(second to last photo). Priced $165

love, love, love this mid-century modern dresser/TV stand/buffet (so many places/ways
you could use this piece!) - look at that hardware! - in very good condition
(some nicks in the wood here and there) and priced $275

two matching Smithe-Craft side chairs upholstered in a dark blue and lighter blue houndstooth material - which is FANTASTIC! I'm not sure if there's some slight fading or not?
Otherwise in great condition and priced $225 each

excellent condition Crate & Barrel sofa - in a brown tweed fabric (you can see the true color better in the photo with the C&B tag). Priced $425. I can't find this exact sofa on their website but

deep chocolate color ultra-suede sofa also in very good condition and priced $195

Lee Industries - made for Toms-Price - side chair in excellent condition EXCEPT for small stain on front of the seat cushion (last photo). Priced $325

this is a FIVE piece sectional by Hickory Chair Co. There are a number of different ways you can configure this sectional. FYI. Some wear but overall in very good condition and priced $195

another very good condition Lazboy brand sofa - priced $225

two matching sofas - both in very good condition - and priced $195 each

sweetest painted cabinet you ever did see! In excellent condition and priced $85

Child Craft brand chest of drawers - a slightly larger than a fifty cent piece size blemish on top
(where finish has actually come off) but otherwise in good condition and priced $75

this truly might be the most gorgeous chest of drawers ever! Look at that wood! The details! Hardware! So pretty! In excellent condition and priced $175

whoever purchased the Habersham Plantation small dresser w/hutch from a couple of weeks ago - here's the matching larger dresser (sorry, the pieces weren't put out together - and then I saw the matching side table when I was leaving and snapped a photo you'll see later in this post). Anyway, it's in excellent condition and priced $ - shoot I forgot to get a photo and I can't quite see the price tag! Sorry!

IKEA six drawer chest in very good condition and priced $125

I showed you one million sweet pairs of chairs in last week's post - and I thought they'd all been purchased and there were none in the store this week - until I came across these two floral chairs - LOVE the colors - in good condition and priced $45 each

as promised - wrapping up with this Habersham Planation side table! Like the rest of the furniture donated from this bedroom set - in excellent condition and priced $125

Got a shake a leg here, dear reader! The store opens in less than one hour! Take care! (If I had more time I'd probably look up where the expression, "shake a leg" originated - but, alas, another time! Haha!)
