I look at the following images and feel so thankful for the generosity of the manufacturers and showroom managers at the Merchandise Mart! And then I look at the photos of furniture from individual donors and my heart kinda wants to burst with gratitude!
I was talking with a donor on the phone, explaining we're looking for furniture still in very-good-to-excellent condition and her response was, "That's ridiculous! Why would someone give you furniture if it was still in excellent condition?" Great question! There are lots of reasons, actually, but here are the top three - downsizing and the furniture was in a room rarely used; death in the family and no one needs the furniture; redecorating and want a change.
You see, we really are trying to make sure every square inch of our showroom works hard for us in order to maximize the proceeds that are helping to support the programs and services at Outreach Community Ministries. Your purchase isn't simply you buying a piece of furniture but it's also your funds having a positive impact on those most vulnerable in DuPage County! Woot!
We picked up EVEN MORE from the Mart - so this first group of photos are all outdoor furniture that's directly from the showrooms there. There's a photo of the furniture then one of the price tag and I won't provide any commentary unless I think something needs clarifying.

the donor called this a "davenport" and I actually had to look up the meaning which is: a large upholstered sofa, typically able to be converted into a bed. Looking at this incredibly FANTASTIC - like new condition - piece I can see that it's probably long enough and deep enough so someone could sleep on it! I truly don't know how something from the 1950s could be in such
excellent condition! Priced $195
